Words from the President
Greetings fellow Arkansas Alumni! My name is Brandy Bittenbender, and I am your new Maryland Chapter president for 2010. I would like to first thank everyone who helped make 2009 one of our most successful years as a chapter. We donated over $500.00 to our scholarship fund (the highest amount ever), and won the Arkansas Alumni Board Cup. First, we plan to expand our charity involvement. You will notice throughout the year that some of our events may have reduced or waived fees in exchange for canned goods. These food items will be donated to local churches and food pantries. In addition, we are adding an Adopt a Family event in December. Due to a lack of potential scholarship recipients from Maryland, we plan on using a portion of our poker proceeds to make a donation to the Eddie Armstrong Foundation. The Maryland Chapter depends on dues paid to the Arkansas Alumni Association. In order to receive our banner award and funding we are required to increase our membership. I thank all members for renewing each year, and encourage non-members to consider enrollment. Anyone living in Maryland who pays dues to the Arkansas Alumni Association is automatically counted as a member of the Maryland Chapter. Lastly, we hope to get more alumni and friends connected through a wide array of events. We are very excited for all the items we have planned for this year, and we would like to share with you our annual calendar. We hope to see you at one or more of the gatherings.
