College Night This October
We need volunteers to represent the University of Arkansas at various high schools around town sometime in Oct-2010.

Our Chapter Needs Volunteers!
We need volunteers in three categories:
1. Membership Chair/Committee
a. This person and committee are responsible for reaching out to our current and future alumni who currently live in the Houston area or are planning to move here. This is a very important committee because it sustains and grows our chapter in the area. We need people who are willing to get out and meet with people and welcome them to our club. If you would like to help us think of new ways to increase the size and impact of our chapter, then this is the committee for you.
2. Social/Activities Committee
a. This committee will be assisting Ashley Jones (Vice President/Activities Chair) and is responsible for coming up with fun events throughout the year for our chapter. The committee is also responsible for overseeing the event the day of. If you would like to get involved in planning and facilitating parties, then this is the committee for you.
3. Golf Committee
a. This committee will be assisting Sean Gentry, John Parsley, Randy Gillespie and Mark Prescott. This is the biggest and most important event of the year. This event funds and grows our scholarship every year. We will need people to help organize and facilitate the tournament. We also need people to help form teams and sell sponsorships. The committee will also need volunteers to help the day of with set up and working during the tournament.

The Houston Chapter of the University of Arkansas Alumni welcomes all members and graduates to our quarterly board meeting.
Please come and learn what is happening in your local chapter. Whether you're a long time member, new to the area, or a recent graduate, we always welcome your input. If you want to get involved, this is a great opportunity.
One of the main topics that will be discussed is this year's Golf Tournament and Banquet.

Rachel Rye Wins Alumni Scholarship
Every year the Houston Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association awards a $10,000 scholarship to a deserving freshman from the Houston area. This year's winner is Rachel Rye from the Woodlands.
The Scholarship Selection Committee, headed by Jim Short, interviewed 12 legacy applicants before selecting Ms. Rye. Congratulations, Rachel and Go Hogs!

If you just moved to the Houston area or know someone who did, please contact our Membership Chairman Rebecca Hirst. She will be able to assist you in finding out information about the chapter and our events.
Houston Chapter Alumni T-shirts
Starting now our local chapter will have T-Shirts for sale. Let us know what size (adult Small-2XL) and how many to order! Shirts are $17 a piece. If you wish to have them mailed directly to you, packaging and postage will be $4.50 for one shirt and $6.50 for two. You may also pick up the T-shirts at a happy hour or watch party. Student Scholarship
Every year the Houston Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association awards a $10,000 scholarship to a deserving freshman from the Houston area. We were the first chapter to hand out a scholarship (1983) and it is still the largest among all the alumni chapters.
The applicant must be an incoming freshman and must have maintained a 3.0/4.0 thru their high school junior year. For more information, please review the scholarship application.
The submission deadline is February 28, 2011. The scholarship will be awarded March 31, 2011.
Wild Hog happy hours now on WEDNESDAY
Our Networking Events/Happy Hours will be held on Wednesdays throughout 2010! Bring your friends -- even if they are not Razorbacks! The more people who attend the more networking opportunities there are. Please join us the 1st Wednesday of every month!
