CVEG Alumni Society
MISSION
The Society shall be a non-profit, educational engineering organization whose mission is to promote communication and friendship among alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the Department by providing a forum for information exchange through organized events, newsletters and other activities.
Further is shall be the mission of the Society to ethically and responsibly award scholarships to worthy students utilizing available funding.
It shall be the individual Member’s mission to proactively promote the Society in public and social events. Members should represent the Society at all events focused around the University, the Department and the Civil Engineering profession.
The Society shall provide a means for Alumni to connect to the Department. The Society shall plan and carry out activities and programs to include mentoring for current students, networking for Alumni and students, and student recruitment.
PURPOSE
1. Foster communication among Alumni, former and present Students, Faculty and friends, through events and other activities.
2. Perpetuate and foster friendship and goodwill among its Members.
3. Promote activities that would help recognize the importance of Civil Engineering.
4. Act as a conduit for the interchange of dialogue between Alumni and the Department.
5. Foster the development and maintenance of current and future scholarships and other assistance programs.
6. Support constant improvement in the Department.
GOVERNING VALUES
1. Operate within the Bylaws of the Society.
2. Focus on the positive and eliminate the negative.
3. Respect the opinions of others.
4. Never compromise the integrity of the Society or the Department.
5. Work in close cooperation with the Department.
6. Work in close cooperation with the Association.
7. Establish a balance of projects and programs to benefit both the Alumni and the Department.
8. Listen to the Members and Department to help with reasonable requests and expectations.
9. Always keep in mind the best interest of the mainstream Membership.
10. Seek excellence in providing services to the membership and the Department and in use of resources in a fair and equitable manner.
11. Commit to promote a freely interactive team approach to Society activities that encourage dialogue and cooperation among all levels of participants.
12. Participate only in above board activities of the Society and work for an open organization.
