Immediate Past President Wyatt Weems

Wyatt Weems resides in Little Rock, Arkansas and is a retired investment banker from Stephens Inc. Weems, along with his brother, Orson Weems, BA '87, have started InterGlobe, a manufacturer of precision metals and plastic components for industrial and high tech industries.

Weems attended the University in the '80s, and as a student a student always wanted to connect to African American alumni. He felt this connection would give him an opportunity to feel and understand the U of A. Weems thought it would be great to have someone he could talk to about situation he was experiencing at the University. When Weems was given the opportunity to participate on the Black Alumni Society Board, he quickly responded. Weems knew this opportunity would give him a chance to fulfill one of his dreams as an alumnus. HE would have the opportunity to connect not only to alumni but also to assist with providing guidance to students.

A member of the Black Alumni Society Board since 2001, he has served in many capacities. He served as president-elect from 2003 to 2005. In 2005, he became president. He made decisions the majority of the Society rather than taking the view points of a few. He believe the Society cannot be used to express personal interest but to move forward in making sure alumni are given this information, this format also provided them with the opportunity to engage, connect, and be a part of the University of Arkansas family.

He also wanted to make sure African American students knew BAS was there to assist them. He wanted to ensure BAS was actively involved and engaged with the Black Student Association and Student African American Brotherhood. Under Weems' leadership, the Black Symposium was established.

Wyatt and his wife, Cle, have two children. Alex 16 and Brandon, 7.
